Way back when, I introduced a bill to make any entity who received more than half of its budget from public services would be subject to the Freedom of Information Act.
The Daily Herald even ran an editorial cartoon on the effort to peek into what Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) do.
Now comes former State Rep. Jeannie Ives on her Sunday “Breakthrough Ideas Newsletter:”
“Another reform would be that any entity receiving tax money is subject to FOIA laws.”
This is part of Ives’ excellent analysis of why State Rep. Carol Ammons was indicted this past week by the Federal government.
The indictment focuses on how Ammons daughter received money from NGOs for which her mother arranged state grants.

In previous years, we included specific grants going to park districts, municipalities, and chambers of commerce. Some of that data will be added in a separate listing.”
