From the Huntley Fire Protection District:
Car goes though guard rail into ditch
On Monday, November 10, 2025, at 8:05 a.m., the Huntley Fire Protection District and Huntley Police Department responded to Kreutzer Road near the railroad tracks for a reported water rescue.

Firefighters arrived within three minutes and located a vehicle that had traveled through a guardrail, rolled onto its side, and came to rest down an embankment along the creek bed.

Once it was determined that the vehicle was not submerged, the water rescue response was called off, and the incident was held to Huntley units.
The driver, an adult male, was conscious but trapped inside the vehicle with serious injuries.

After the vehicle was stabilized, paramedics entered to provide medical care while firefighters began the extrication.
The prolonged process lasted approximately 40 minutes, and at about 8:45 a.m., the patient was safely removed and transported to the Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital helipad, where a medical helicopter was standing by.
The patient was transferred to the helicopter and airlifted to a Rockford hospital for further treatment.
Kreutzer Road remained closed in both directions for over an hour, and Union Pacific Railroad was notified to halt rail traffic due to the close proximity of the scene to the tracks.
“Crews did a professional job given the difficult access to the vehicle down in the ravine,” said Battalion Chief Eric Bentley.
“The steep terrain and position of the car made stabilization and patient removal extremely challenging.
“Their teamwork and persistence ensured the patient received the care he needed as quickly as possible.”
The Huntley Police Department is investigating the crash. Any additional questions regarding the investigation, including the cause, fault, seat belt use, and vehicle speed, should be directed to the Huntley Police Department.
