Despite negative advertising pointing out that Catalina Lauf is not a long-time resident of Florida, President Donald Trump has endorsed her to replace 19th District Bryon Donalds in the Southwest Florida district.

And this isn’t the first to attack carpetbagging candidates.
A poll that appeared this week put Lauf statistically tied with local radio and TV owner advertising himself as the only native to the district–Jim Schwartzel.
Let me pull out the most recent survey results so you don’t have to go to the above article:
The previous poll had Schwaerzel at 13% and Jim Oberweis at 12% with a margin of error is 5.2%.
Madison Cawthorn, who served one term in Congress in North Carolina has just over 5% in this poll, while Lauf scored just under 5%while Lauf was at 5%.
Trump’s endorement history has shown he does not like to take chances.
With Lauf and Schwartzel tied, I figure Trump concluded he cod determine the winner.
And, since Trump apparently knew Lauf from his 2016 campaign, having appointed her to a minor Comerce De;partment post, logic would tell him that Lauf would be a more faithful follower that Schwartzel.

Lauf reesponded:
“To the greatest President, thank you. I am so honored to receive your Complete and Total Endorsement. I will NEVER LET YOU DOWN. And to the people of Southwest Florida: I WILL FIGHT FOR YOU EVERY SINGLE DAY. For our families. For our freedoms. For our country.”
Schwaerzel, who must have been dismayed by the Lauf endorsement wrote:
“The President endorsed my opponent tonight. You’re hearing it from me before you hear it anywhere else.
A lot of you are angry. I’ve gotten the calls. You should know I’m not asking you to be anything other than what you are right now.
But let’s be precise about where that anger belongs. Not with President Trump — I’ve supported him from the beginning and I’ll support him after Tuesday. It belongs with the operation that worked this for months: the out-of-state super PACs that have poured millions into this district, the Washington consultants who packaged a candidate who ran for Congress twice in Illinois and sold her as Southwest Florida’s choice, the people who decided our seat shouldn’t be settled in a room a thousand miles from here.
They got a piece of paper. They did not get your vote. That is still yours, and you cast it early or on Tuesday.
House Majority Leader Steve Scalise and Chairman Jim Jordan are with me, and they weren’t doing me a favor. They run the President’s agenda through the House, they looked at this field, and they picked the man who’ll actually deliver for this district on day one.
And here’s what no endorsement touches. I was born here, this isn’t a seat I came here to take.

Catalina first revealed her ambition to serve in Congress at the McHenry County Fair in 2019.
She ran in the GOP primary election, hoping to face off against Lauren Underwood. Overweis won the primary, but lost the general election.
In that election, Lauf publicly announced in the New York Post a month latter on August 22, 2019. She billed herself as “the anti-AOC.” Ocasio-Cortez is a bit older than Luaf.
Now, nine years later, she has that opportunity.
