MCHENRY POLICE ARREST SUBJECT INVOLVED
IN DOMESTIC DISPUTE / SHOOTING INCIDENT
John R. Birk, Chief of Police of the McHenry Police Department, announced today, a subject has been criminally charged in connection with a shooting incident that occurred in McHenry on May 25th, 2025.
On May 25th, 2025, at approximately 8:20 PM, the McHenry Police Department responded to a residence in the 600 Block of Silbury Court for a reported domestic dispute during which a handgun was fired.
Officers arrived on scene and determined Raymond V. Kanarowski had been involved in a dispute involving his 75-year-old spouse and 46-year-old daughter.

During the dispute, Kanarowski displayed a handgun and fired several rounds.
He was taken into custody at the scene without incident.
There were no reported injuries by anyone involved..
The investigation developed probable cause to criminally charge RAYMOND V. KANAROWSKI (age 77,
DOB: 07/04/1947) of 613 Mineral Springs Drive, McHenry, Illinois, with the following:
- 2 Counts of AGGRAVATED UNLAWFUL USE OF A WEAPON – Class 4 Felonies
- 2 Counts of AGGRAVATED ASSAULT – Class 4 Felonies
- 2 Counts of AGGRAVATED ASSAULT – Class 4 Felonies
- 1 Count of DOMESTIC BATTERY – Class A Misdemeanor
Kanarowski was transported to the McHenry County Jail to await court proceedings.
