From John Lopez:

Potential for a Campaign Based on the Issues and Policy Awaits IL 8th Congressional District General Electorate

It’ll be an all-woman general election in the 8th Congressional District of Illinois as Republicans nominated Jennifer Davis (R, unincorporated Huntley) over 2024 nominee Mark Rice (R, Arlington Heights) and two other men.

According to unofficial returns and buoyed by strong support in Kane and DuPage counties, Davis garnered over 51% of the Republican primary vote.

Unofficial returns show Davis winning over 59% of the Republican primary vote in her home Kane County.

The Democrats nominated former 3-term Congresswoman (2005-2011) Melissa Bean (D, unincorporated Barrington) with a plurality of the Democratic primary vote of 32% & beating her nearest competitor progressive Junaid Ahmed (D, South Barrington) by 3,460 votes.

All returns are unofficial, based on returns from the 4 local election authorities of the 8th Congressional District through 5AM March 18.

With two centrist nominees for the major parties, 8th District voters have the potential for a fall campaign based solely on the issues and policy, not slogans and sound bites.

Davis, 55, and Bean, 64, are seen as two successful mainstream suburban women in business and raising families in Illinois.

The general election is November 3, 2026, with vote-by-mail ballots hitting the streets in late September.
