Bushra Amiwala spoke at Wednesday’s Democratic Party of McHenry County monthly meeting at McHenry County College.

“I was honored to join the Democratic Party of McHenry County this evening as we imagined a more prosperous future for our district.

“Organizations like these are the lifeblood of our democracy.

“Dozens of neighbors, local leaders, activists and candidates came out tonight in the middle of a snowstorm because we believe the voters of our home deserve something better.

“We will not be intimidated by the suppressive actions of the current administration in Washington.

“In McHenry County, we still abide by the Constitution.

“We still invoke our rights to free speech, to vote and to peacefully petition the government with our grievances.

“I’m inspired by all the passionate, patriotic voters I met tonight and I can’t wait to work together through this election cycle and beyond.”

The only other 9th District candidate that I know has visited McHenry County is Daniel Biss. I saw him before the Independence Day Parade, but not in the rainy parade.
