Local resident and bond analyst Steve Willson wrote a fact-filled letter to the editor in rebut an article in the Rockford-Register Star praising the proposal for state and local governments to start passenger service between Rockford and Chicago.
Amtrak already rejected the idea, so now Metra would be the operating agency.
The question of whether Boone and Winnebago Counties would be forced to pay as much as those now in the six-county area has barely been discussed.
