Explosive: Fire the LIG Amidst a Complete Overhaul of IL’s Ethics Oversight

This morning, I called for Legislative Inspector General (LIG) Michael McCuskey to be fired for his extremely troubling behavior recently that’s made a mockery of the office.

During a radio interview on WMAY last week, he made a series of inappropriate statements, including dismissing major inaccuracies in his Harry Benton report, minimizing sexual harassment concerns, and revealing information he should not have disclosed.

At one point, he admitted: “I shouldn’t even be telling that, but what the hell, they can’t take my job away because it’s not a felony. They’re stuck with me for two more years.”

These comments showed a total disregard for confidentiality, basic investigative standards, and the seriousness of ethics violations.

That’s why I’ve called for him to be fired immediately, which the Legislative Ethics Commission (LEC) has the authority to do.
