I took a look the Illinois Tollways’ fifteen year plan and don’t see money to build waht used to be the route for a freeway, the location of which is the space between McHenry and Johnsburg on Route 31.
In the vote to transfer ownership of the land to the Tollway, none of the McHenry County’s three legislators were in the loop.
I argued against it the bill, pointing out that McHenry County residents would prefer a freeway to a tollway.
But the fix was in and the bill containing the land transfer (with no payment to the Illinois Department of Transportation for the land it owned) passed.
It went to the Senate where Senator Dick Klemm also voted “No.”
The route was part of a deal originating with Arlington Park owner Marge Everett.to Richmond.
You can see that she was successful in Wisconsin.
Eventually, I assume, the road will be built.
When it is I think the man at whose request it was turned into a tollway should have his name affixed to it.
No way I can prove this, but the only person in McHenry County who could have pulled this off was McHenry County Republican Party Chairman Al Jourdan, Jr.
