I had something better to do last night than tune into the McHenry County Board meeting.
Having looked at the agenda items, I’ve previously published what I found interesting:
I didn’t consider the solar farms zoning requests significant because state law had made it abundantly clear that local officials canot deny it.
Some while ago, the Board’s zoning expert, Joe Gottemoller, pointed that out.
The Northwest Herald reported decided that the tie vote on two solar farms, broken by Board Chairman Mike Buehler’s aye vote, was the top story of the day:

Maybe he did so because he can read and understand state statutes.
Maybe he voted that way to save taxpayers the cost of defending the inevitable lawsuits that the solar farm applicants would file and win.
regardless, it was the correct, if unpopular, vote.
