Illinois had a private school subsidy program, but the Democrats refused to renew it.

Then in the big Beautiful Bill President Trump signed a concept allowing people to deduct contributions for school choice scholarships.
Teacher unions, concerned that competition might end up with fewer dues payers have convinced almost all Democratic Party governors to sign on to the program, which the law requires for local participation.
Now comes Colorado Governor Jared Polis tlling the Colorado Sun that it was a no-brainer for the state to join the program: “It supports donors to give more money to our schools. I mean, I would be crazy not to.”
Previously, North Carolina Democratic Party Governor Josh Stein signed up under pressure from his Republican legislature.
Republican County Boards in McHenry and Winnebago Counties are voting to put referendums on the ballot in March.
