I played legislative analyst today by typing the word “tax” into the search engine for(House Amendment 1 to SB2811.

Here are the proposals I found:

  • 10% tax on gross fares of ground transportation (think Uber and Lyft)
  • $3 per thousand real estate transfer tax

In addition, I think the bill proposes to grab the share of the RTA sales tax that now goes to counties for transportation or law enforcement purposes. (See page 277, et al.)

UPDATE

Somehow, I missed the following tax the Democrats’ proposed:

Electric vehicle drivers would be charged 6 cents per kilowatt hour at public charging stations in 2026, with the tax increasing based on inflation each year after that.
