From the Woodstock Police:

Discharge of a Firearm – Investigation

During the early morning of Sunday, May 4th, 2025, it was reported to the Woodstock Police Department that gunshots were heard in the southwest sector of Woodstock.

As police were investigating that incident, more gunshots were reported in the northeast area of Woodstock, south of the McHenry County Courthouse.

In both cases, it has been determined that the citizens’ reports of gunfire were verified, however, no gunshot victims have been identified and no one has reported any damage to property from this incident.

Based on the totality of the circumstances, the Woodstock Police Department does not assess a direct,
immediate, or on-going threat to the community.

However, there is no excuse for irresponsible gun possession/ownership which only endangers the greater Woodstock community.

If identified, all responsible parties in this incident will be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.

The Woodstock Police Department is asking homeowners to check their home security video systems
for any suspicious vehicles or people in the affected areas.

Anyone with information regarding these incidents can call the WPD Investigations Division at 815-338-2131.
