Algonquin Township Supervisor Randy “My Way or the Highway” Funk, censured nine times by the Republican Township Trustees with who he ran four years ago, went down to an ignominious 61%-39% defeat.

Newcomer Richard Tado emerged victorious.

The race for Algonquin Township Road Commissioner was a lot closer.

Incumbent Danijela Sandberg defeated Tim Carone 54%-46%.

In the contest for Township Clerk, current Trustee Millie Medendorp defeated Funk ally Richard Yelle, Jr., by 57%-43%

The victorious four Township Trustee candidates include two of the “Spice Girls,” current Trustees

  • Teresa Sharpe Decker
  • Theresa Fronczak

  • newcomer Eduardo Aviles

Coming first among those who lost was current Township Clerk Maureen Huff.

Former Sheriff’s candidate Tony Colatorti was also among Funk allies who did not win election, running behind his slate’s first-time candidate Debbie Rinn Alcock and Kevin Bynes, who was one of Colatorti’s major supporters in the Sheriff’s race against Robb Tadelman.
