Illinois Tollway Proposes New Capital Program and Updated Toll Rates

The Illinois Tollway has proposed its next long-term capital program, Driving Connections, a 15-year, $26.5 billion investment intended to improve traffic and enhance road conditions, providing Illinoisans with a resilient, modern system built to support a dynamic region for generations to come.
| Benefits for Communities The Driving Connections will help alleviate traffic for Illinoisans – allowing people to spend more time with their families and less time on the road. The plan will also fuel economic development by creating thousands of engineering and construction jobs, support suppliers and small businesses while improving commerce and economic development. |

Funding the Capital Program
To fund this transformative investment, the Board of Directors is proposing an increase to toll rates beginning in 2027, including Increases for I-PASS passenger vehicles of around 45 cents per toll and 30 percent increases for I-PASS commercial vehicles. In addition, the Tollway is proposing to adjust rates in accordance with the Consumer Price Index every other year to provide cost predictability for customers.
