From the State Rep. Marty McLaughlin:
Rep. McLaughlin Rejects Political Posturing, Pushes Real Tax Relief and Anti-Corruption Reforms
SPRINGFIELD, IL – State Representative Martin McLaughlin (R-Barrington Hills) is calling out Democrats in the House who spent the day pushing a series of symbolic resolutions attacking federal policies, rather than choosing to focus on issues that actually matter to Illinois families and job creators.
“Instead of wasting taxpayer dollars and time on angry political statements with no real impact, maybe the majority party would’ve been better off renting buses and heading to Washington where most of their complaints belong,” said McLaughlin.
While his colleagues across the aisle pushed through House Resolutions 504 through 508, McLaughlin and a group of like-minded legislators began filing a package of pro-growth bills aimed at providing property tax relief for small businesses and manufacturers.
These initiatives are designed to encourage capital investment, strengthen Illinois’ economy, and bring long-term relief to overburdened taxpayers.
In addition, McLaughlin introduced a bill to ensure that no politician convicted of a felony—particularly those who served as Speaker of the House—will ever have their taxpayer-funded portrait hung in the Capitol.
“These are common-sense, pro-business, anti-corruption reforms that every lawmaker—regardless of party—should support,” said McLaughlin.
“I came to Springfield to work for the people of the 52nd District, not to waste time swatting at political mosquitoes.”
