From the Algonquin Township Highway Commissioner Danijela Sandberg:

Algonquin Township Road District Responds to Flooding and Severe Weather Impacts

Algonquin Township, IL — The Algonquin Township Road District is actively responding to recent flooding conditions and severe weather impacts across the township, prioritizing resident safety and roadway accessibility.

To assist with flood mitigation efforts, sand and sandbags are available for self-service at the Road District facility.

These resources are intended to help residents protect their homes and properties as conditions evolve.

For residents in unincorporated areas who are unable to transport materials, Road District crews are delivering sand to support urgent needs.

In addition to flood response efforts, crews are actively monitoring roadway conditions, addressing drainage concerns, and working to maintain safe water flow throughout the township.

The Road District is also responding to calls from the McHenry County Sheriff’s Department regarding downed trees and other roadway hazards to ensure safe travel for residents.

The Road District is coordinating closely with McHenry County Emergency Management to assist residents who may be displaced due to flooding.

Residents in need of additional support are encouraged to contact the American Red Cross at 1-800-RED-CROSS, where services may include emergency sheltering, meals, assistance with replacing medications, and access to mental health and spiritual care resources.

“The safety and well-being of our residents remains our top priority,” said Highway Commissioner Danijela Sandberg.

“Our crews are working diligently to respond to conditions as they develop and to provide support where it is needed most.”

Residents experiencing flooding concerns or in need of assistance are encouraged to contact the Algonquin Township Road District office.

“The road district has a sand bagging machine,” Sandberg wrote.

” It will be out tomorrow from 12-2.

“We have delivered sand and bags to the heavily affected areas and are working with McHenry County Emergency Management to help coordinate arrangements for residents that may be displaced due to the flooding.
