John Collins Uses PAC to Promote Democrats
Democratic McHenry County Board member John Collins is not up for election this year, so he does not have to spend a dime.
However, Collins is a team player who wants to build the Democratic bench.
Democrats have 3 seats out of 18 on the county board.
So, Collins started a PAC called “Neighbors for a Better McHenry County” back in April and it appears that its primary purpose is to elect more Democrats.

Here are some of the recent contributions from his PAC to Democratic candidates.
He has been helping Democrats Gloria Van Hof and Carolyn Campbell defend their seats, but mostly he has been helping Pat Shea try to flip a seat that is currently held by Brian Sager — although Sager is not the person running against Shea since he lost his primary to Jeff Schwartz.
The seat that Shea is running for is in district 7 and it is one of the most likely to flip from Republican to Democrat.
Some of the PAC’s funding comes from a pro-abortion (Collins would call it a pro-choice) organization based in Chicago.
He is also getting help from members of the U.S. House of Representatives such as Bill Foster and Brad Schneider who both represent parts of McHenry County. although not from his own Congressman-to-be Daniel Biss).
His most recent quarterly report shows he raised $13,140 between July 1 and September 30; more has come in since then.

His balance was $11,959.12 on September 30th, which is a fair amount for a newly started local PAC and explains why he is throwing money around now.
