From the Collin Corbett campaign:

Collin Corbett’s Independent Campaign for Governor Ends the Second Quarter with Three Times the Cash on Hand as the Republican Nominee

Cash on Hand Advantage and Much Lower Burn Rate Proves Viability of the Independent Movement

PALATINE, IL — Despite only securing a spot on the ballot on June 24th and achieving official certification from the State Board of Elections on July 14th, Independent Collin Corbett’s campaign for Illinois Governor ended the second quarter with three times the cash on hand of the Republican nominee.

According to the latest financial disclosures filed last night, Collin for Illinois closed the quarter with $379,163.41, while Bailey for Illinois held just $127,990.39.

“Our cash advantage over one of the two major-party nominees further proves that our Independent campaign is credible.

“This, combined with our lean and effective operation, makes us the only viable campaign to take on JB Pritzker in the General Election,” said the campaign.

Meanwhile, Darren Bailey’s campaign relied almost exclusively on prospecting, resulting in a campaign burn rate of nearly 100%.

In politics, it is well known that you can hire prospecting companies who fundraise on your behalf but take most if not all of the money they raise for themselves—making it look like you’ve raised money on your disclosure report but leaving the campaign virtually nothing.

The Bailey campaign paid 17 different prospecting vendors, nearly all of them out of state, just under $1 million in the 2nd quarter, accounting for a staggering 78% of the campaign’s total expenditures.

“We’re not sure Darren Bailey’s supporters would be happy to find out where their hard-earned money is actually going,” the campaign concluded.

“Nearly every dollar they contributed to defeat JB Pritzker is instead being pocketed by out-of-state prospecting firms.

“Bailey isn’t building a war chest to win in November, he’s running a prospecting mill that benefits campaign consultants and vendors.”
