Both JB Pritzker and Rahm Emanuel are seeking the Democratic Party nomination for President.

In yesterday’s Daily Herald, there is a long article allowing Emanuel to explain whey he decided not to seek the

Chicago was considered a natural location for this year’s FIFA soccer matches.

Besides size and location, Chicago has Solder Field.

Below are the requirements:

FIFA’s model permits soccer’s world governing body to claim the vast bulk of revenue from ticketing, broadcasting, sponsorship, concessions and car parking, which is partly why the organization has projected more than $11 billion from this summer’s World Cup alone. The cities carry the financial burden for public transportation, safety, security and protection, including medical services, fire protection, police and even VIP escorts for anyone that FIFA declares worthy of the honor.

On top of that, a contract clause required Chicago to put a dome over Solder Field.

As Emanuel analyzed the contact terms he would have to sign, he concluded, according to the article, “was being asked to take on all the risk, while FIFA took home the rewards.”

Emanuel had serious concerns as “the representative of Chicago’s taxpayers” in 2018.

So, now we are in 2026 and the Bears are threatening to move to Hammond.

Pritzker jas a dellema.

He can end up as the Governor who could not keep the Bears in Illinois, even control of every branch of government in the hands of his Democratic Party

or

A governor who used taxpayer money to subsidize a football club worth $8.2 billion.

The choice is a no win one for Pritzker.

He will be set up for withering criticism from Emanuel.
