From the minutes of the Valley Hi Operating Committee:
Valley Hi Adminiistrator addressed a previously reported resident fall from January, which resulted in a G-level deficiency.
He stated that the facility received notice of a $25,000 fine from the State of Illinois.
He explained that the facility had the option to either contest the fine through a formal hearing or accept a reduced penalty.
After review, the decision was made to accept a 35% reduction and pay $16,250, as contesting the fine would likely result in additional costs with minimal chance of success.
He noted that due to recent changes in how fines are assessed, a budget line for fines and fees had been established for FY26 to account for such occurrences.
He added that the facility was in the process of submitting documentation to demonstrate compliance and close out the survey cycle, pending no additional complaint surveys.
