Under the images of the Americans for Prosperity postcard designed to put pressure on State Rep. Sue Ness not to vote for higher taxes, I wrote, “You can’t beat somebody with nobody.”

Today, Laurie Parman announces she is making her second run to replace Ness.

So far, Ness has not announced whether she is running for re-election or for Congress. With proven strong backing from unions, Ness might stand a chance against the plethora of candidates from Chicago and the North Shore.

Below is a press release from McGOPAC:

Laurie Parman Announces Second Run for Illinois House, District 66

Backed by McGOPAC, Parman Takes Aim at Democrat Failures on Education, Sets Sights on Flipping a Winnable Seat

Retired Teacher, Doctor of Educational Leadership, Sleepy Hollow, IL resident and Republican, Laurie Parman has officially launched her second campaign for Illinois State Representative in District 66, preparing for a high-stakes rematch against Democrat incumbent Suzanne Ness in the November 5, 2024, general election.

Parman, an McGOPAC-backed candidate, is entering the race with renewed momentum and a laser focus on exposing Democrat missteps on education policy.

In the 2022 election, Parman secured 46.7% of the vote (24,292 votes), falling just short of Ness’s 53.3% (27,757 votes). With continued McGOPAC support and growing grassroots enthusiasm, the race is widely viewed as one of Illinois’ top Republican pickup opportunities in 2024.

“Laurie Parman is the right candidate at the right time,” said a spokesperson for McGOPAC. “She’s not waiting until she’s elected to lead—she’s already on the front lines, holding Springfield accountable. Her work pushing back on HB2827 has exposed how far Democrats will go to scare parents and avoid fixing the real issues in our broken education system.”

HB2827, backed by Democrats including Ness, imposes Class 3 felony penalties on homeschooling families who fail to file paperwork on time—while doing nothing to address Illinois’ chronically underperforming public schools. From behind the scenes, Parman has been mobilizing opposition to the bill, even calling nearly a third of Democrat legislators to warn them they’ve left their flank exposed!

“This is a defining issue. Democrats are targeting homeschool families with threats of felony charges instead of fixing Illinois’ education crisis,” said Parman. “Voters are fed up with these priorities. They want leaders who protect families, defend freedom, and actually improve our schools and our childrens’ education.”

Parman’s campaign plans to center on education, parental rights, and restoring accountability in Springfield. District 66, which spans parts of McHenry and Kane counties, remains a competitive district and a top focus for Illinois Republicans this cycle.

More details on campaign events, policy priorities, and volunteer opportunities will be released in the coming weeks. Please visit her website to get to know Laurie Parman for IL State Rep, Dist 66 at  http://laurieparman.com/
