From State Rep. Adam Niemerg:
Rep. Adam Niemerg: Non-governmental organizations receiving millions in taxpayer dollars
Dieterich, IL – State Representative Adam Niemerg (R-Dieterich) says the widening gap in the state budget is not the result of a lack of funds but rather a lack of leadership and fiscal discipline.
Governor JB Pritzker’s current budget proposal is nearly $17 billion more than the budget when he first took office in 2019.
“Spending is out of control,” Niemerg said. “I have warned the Democrats about the problems their excessive spending would create. I warned them that we were on the precipice of a giant fiscal cliff and that all of this spending would eventually catch up with us. Well, here we are, spending is out of control and a tax increase seems inevitable.”
Niemerg said an easy place to start cutting is to stop funding non-governmental organizations such as the Indo-American Center, which works with illegal immigrants and has received more than $14 million in state funds in the current budget.
He said even some Democrats understand the need to reduce spending.
State Representative Fred Crespo (D-Hoffman Estates) has been removed from the House Democratic Caucus for daring to stand up for a more fiscally responsible approach to the Illinois Budget.

“The Democratic leadership has made it clear they do not want to even entertain the idea of spending less of our hard-earned tax money,” Niemerg said. “One simple way to free up some funds is to stop funding left-wing organizations. Unfortunately, Democrats have made it clear they have no intention of getting spending under control.”
