Thirty-two miles of McHenry County roads will be re-surfaced this year.

Estimated to cost $6.6 million, 32.4 miles of road will be re-surfaced.

The recommended award amount is $6,238,188.50, which is the low bid. The engineer’s estimate was $7,330,246.60.

The $6.6 million amount to be appropriated contains a 5% contingency amount,

The roads to be improved are

  • An 8.0 lane-mile section of Maple Street from Francis Street to Harmony Road, of which 7.4 lane miles will receive the hot-in-place recycling treatment
  • An 8.3 lane-mile section of Wilmot Road from State Line to US-12
  • A 6.1 lane-mile section Richardson Road from IL-173 to Main Stree
  • A 10.0 lane-mile section of Flat Iron Road from County Line Road to IL-173

The Waukesha-based firm Payne+Dolan has satellite offices in Michigan and Wisconsin.

The money will come from the RTA Sales Tax Project Fund.
