Here is a map found in the McHenry County 2050 Comprehensive Plan on the County Board’s agenda:

While the title purports to include parks, I have emails from numerous municipalities and park districts that they cannot find their parks on the map.

I looked for Crystal Lake’s parks where they are so extensive that the Conservation District has basically ignored the area since its founding, except for a bike path. I found 525 acres on the web site.

Jason Herbster, Executive Director of the Crystal Lake Park District emailed, “There does not appear to be any.”

Algonquin’s Patrick Knapp, replied, “One look and it looks like no municipal parks or open spaces are included on the map. Only unincorporated.”

In reply to my question as to whether Cary parks were on the map, Park District Director Dan Jones wrote, “It does not appear so.  The Park District has 46 sites, including larger properties that I do not see on what you provided.  That said, the scale of this map is small and therefore the detail may not be at a scale to show all parks sites effectively, nor is it clear as to the purpose of the map or document from which this map was pulled.”

From Fox River Grove came this reply: “It does not appear that Fox River Grove’s Parks are marked on the attached map of open space from the 2050 McHenry County Comprehensive Plan.”

Debi Bejot of Harvard wrote, “I do not see any of our Parks plotted on the map you attached.”

Marengo Park District President Marty Mohr wrote, “Looks like they missed our large park (Indian Oaks) and the smaller ones.”

He attached this map:
