Here’s an interesting deal: Lakewood will undertake street repair, maintenance, resurfacing, reconstruction, and related public works projects within Union.
The reason Union asks for help is that it bid a road project, but the results were very high.
Union will pay Lakewood the cost of $240 per hour, plus legal fees.
The arrangement will last two years unless it is cancelled.
This is not the first instance of intergovernmental cooperation on roads.
In his unsuccessful campaign for re-election Nunda Township Road Commissioner Mike Lesperance wrote, “…we’ve actively supported neighboring communities with their road projects. In exchange, we’ve received compensation in the form of labor, machine time, or direct payment, which has helped strengthen regional partnerships and maximize resources for everyone involved.”
