Charges Against Congressional Candidate Who Won McHenry County Dismissed

The U.S. Attorney in Chicago seems to be saying, “No harm, no foul.”

But, this prosecution during an intense political campaign in the 9th congressional district is the equivalent of challenging a candidate’s petitions.

Although not brought by an election opponent, the court action had the same effect.

While Kat carried Alognquin Township, she ran second to Daniel Biss districtwide.

It took campaign money and time away from Kat Abughazaleh’s campaign.

One could argue that is also helped her campaign because of the free media, of course.

My question is “Will the U.S. Attorney be sued for wrongful prosecution?”

Defense lawyers have asked for a Special Prosecutor with subpoena power to probe the motivation of the prosecution.
