This evening at its 7 PM meeting, the McHenry County Board has three hot topics.

McHenry County Blog has published information on two of them:

The third issue is whether to put a Home Rule referendum on the ballot this Novembe.

Regardless of what those voting to put a Home Rule referendum on the ballot say, the underlying reason for putting forrth every Home Rule referendum I’ve seen is the ability of a board to raise taxes without a referendum.

As a bonus, Home Rule units can charge fees which have not been authorized by state law. (Check out what Chicago Mayor Johnson has proposed.)

OK, so what should the headline be?
