Huntley Fire Protection District Mourns the Loss of Trustee John Davis
The Huntley Fire Protection District is deeply saddened by the passing of Trustee John E. Davis, a respected fire service leader, mentor, and dedicated public servant whose influence extended throughout Illinois and beyond.

Davis served the Huntley Protection District for more than two decades as a member of the Board of Trustees and previously as a Fire Commissioner.
Throughout his tenure, he remained committed to the district’s mission, providing guidance, leadership, and steadfast support to the men and women who serve the community each day.
His commitment to public safety spanned 57 years in the fire service.
During his distinguished career, Davis served as Fire Chief of the Oak Park, Stone Park, and Bedford Park Fire Departments. He also held numerous leadership positions within the fire service community, including serving as President of the Metropolitan Fire Chiefs Association, a member of the Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Office Advisory Committee, Coordinator for the Office of the State Fire Marshal Fire Officer III Certification Program, and Director on the Executive Board of the Illinois Fire Chiefs Education and Research Foundation.
“John dedicated his life to serving others and advancing the fire service,” said Huntley Fire Protection District Fire Chief Daniel Wagner.
“His experience, leadership, and passion for the fire service made him an invaluable member of our organization. He was a trusted advisor, a strong advocate for our district, and a friend to many. His impact will be felt for years to come.”
The Huntley Fire Protection District extends its deepest condolences to his wife, Pam, their children and grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of knowing and serving alongside him.
Visitation for Trustee Davis will be held Thursday, June 25, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at DeFiore Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Road in Huntley, with a service immediately following at 2 p.m. Family, friends, and members of the fire service are invited to continue celebrating his life at the Huntley American Legion from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Camp I Am Me through the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance, a cause that reflects Davis’ lifelong commitment to supporting the fire service and its members.
