I’m remembering when I debated ACLU’s Harvey Grossman on contact tracing in Chicago’s Bughouse Square with Leon Despres as moderator. Sometime between 1990 and 1992.
Perhaps you know that new topics are not supposed to be brought up in closing arguments.
Grossman did anyway, claiming that I wanted to put policemen in bedrooms.

Having expected that he might not play by the rules, I had this ready:
:You’re the one who sent Walter Polovchak to Moscow, You’re the one who let the Nazis march in Skokie.”
The guys in the back row rose shouting down what I said.
After the debate Grossman would not shake my hand.
Then a man who told me he was a retired high school debate teacher came up and told me, “Just in case you didn’t know, you pwn the debate.
