From last month’s minutes of the McHenry County Board’s Law and Government Committee:
Carrolyn Campbell shared that she had recently been involved in a three-car accident on Route 14 near Hebron Road while attempting to turn left.

She commended the response of the Sheriff’s Office and the Harvard Fire Protection District.
She also noted that a passerby, identified as a research nurse from Northwestern, stopped to assess the situation and remained on scene until emergency responders arrived.
Ms. Campbell emphasized the importance of drivers slowing down near accident scenes, stating that vehicles continued passing at high speeds despite the crash.
She noted that the driver who struck her stated he had been distracted and may not have realized traffic had stopped before impact.
Discussion followed confirming that laws requiring drivers to slow down near emergency scenes do exist
