This Facebook post from four years ago emerged in Florida’s Conservative Record’s Facebook page:
CATALINA LAUF’S RECORD: IS SHE AN ILLINOIS LIBERAL? WHAT DOES SHE ACTUALLY BELIEVE?
The Conservative Record obtained information from Illinois Family Action, a conservative advocacy organization based in that state, raising serious questions about Catalina Lauf’s political beliefs and consistency.
According to Illinois Family Action, Lauf previously ran for Congress (outside of Chicago, multiple districts) as a pro-life, pro-Second Amendment conservative.

She talked about guns. She posted about guns. She leaned into conservative messaging.
Then she won her Republican primary.
And according to Illinois Family Action, when she entered the general election, everything started disappearing!
The organization reported that Lauf removed Second Amendment language from her campaign website. It also reported that all pro-life language was stripped from the site.
She even went so far as to delete several videos highlighting her conservative positions.
Lauf also failed to respond to surveys from the Illinois Family Institute and the NRA.
For the record, a Republican NOT responding to the NRA is a huge slap in the face of conservatives.
**Regardless of how you feel about guns or abortion, this isn’t about Catalina’s specific positions on either issue.**
It’s about whether she stands firm when the political pressure gets uncomfortable.
Southwest Florida voters can disagree on plenty of issues. But they deserve to know whether a candidate’s convictions are real — or whether they disappear the moment consultants, or worse, liberals, say they’re inconvenient.
That’s the concern here.
Was Lauf ever standing on principle?
Now Lauf is running in conservative Southwest Florida, asking Republican voters to trust her as an America First conservative.
Based on the record reported by Illinois Family Action, voters have every right to ask: Is Catalina Lauf really just a liberal?
