Man Found Dead in Brittany Bend Home

On Monday, April 20, 2026, at 1:07 p.m., the Huntley Fire Protection District and Lake in the Hills Police Department responded to the 1000 block of Brittany Bend in Lake in the Hills for a reported fire investigation.

The incident was reported by a family member who went to the residence to check on a relative.

Upon arrival, crews found no signs of active fire from the exterior of the single-story home. However, upon further investigation, firefighters identified significant fire damage inside the residence.

Crews made entry and located a deceased adult male within the home. With no active fire or additional hazards identified, crews exited the residence and secured the scene.

The Office of the State Fire Marshal and the McHenry County Coroner’s Office were requested to assist, along with utility companies.

The residence has been deemed uninhabitable due to the extent of the damage.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Huntley Fire Protection District, in coordination with the Office of the State Fire Marshal, the McHenry County Coroner’s Office, and the Lake in the Hills Police Department. Preliminary findings indicate the incident does not appear to be suspicious in nature.
