From the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District:

Personal Injury Accident, Car versus House

On January 2, 2026, at approximately 9:53 p.m., Algonquin Police Officers, along with members of the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District, responded to a residence near the intersection of Boyer Road and Eineke Boulevard for a reported traffic crash.

Upon arrival, officers determined that a passenger vehicle had left the roadway and struck the south side of a residence on Eineke Boulevard.

The occupants of the home were present at the time of the crash.

One resident was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A juvenile passenger from the vehicle was also transported for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the vehicle, a juvenile, fled the scene on foot prior to officers’ arrival.

The juvenile was later brought to the Algonquin Police Department by a parent and taken into custody.

Following consultation with the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office – Juvenile Division, the juvenile has been charged through the juvenile court system with the following offenses:

  • Reckless Driving – Willful or Wanton Disregard for the Safety of Persons or Property (625
    ILCS 5/11-503(a)(1))
  • Failure to Remain at the Scene of a Personal Injury Motor Vehicle Accident (625 ILCS
    5/11-401(a))
  • Driving Without Ever Having Been Issued a Driver’s License (625 ILCS 5/6-101)
  • Speeding 26–34 Miles Per Hour Over the Posted Speed Limit (625 ILCS 5/11-601.5(a))
  • Driving Too Fast for Conditions / Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident (625
    ILCS 5/11-601(a))
  • Disobeying a Stop Sign (625 ILCS 5/11-1204(b))

The Algonquin Police Department continues to emphasize the importance of safe and lawful
driving, particularly for newer drivers. Families and guardians play an important role in helping
young drivers understand the responsibilities that come with being behind the wheel.

Due to the age of the individual involved, no additional identifying information will be released.
