Serious Crash on Route 14
On Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 7:18 p.m., the Harvard Fire Protection District responded to the 10000 block of Route 14 in unincorporated Harvard for a serious motor vehicle crash.

While en route, responders were advised that multiple patients may be injured.

Additional ambulances from Harvard, Woodstock, and Hebron were dispatched, and a medical helicopter was requested but was unable to fly due to weather conditions.

MD-1, an emergency physician response vehicle, also responded to the scene to assist.
Upon arrival, crews found a serious two-vehicle crash, with one vehicle off the roadway in a ditch.

The vehicles were separated by more than 100 feet, and debris was scattered across the roadway.

The call had initially been dispatched as a crash with entrapment, but arriving crews confirmed no one was trapped.
A male occupant of a silver sedan had reportedly been ejected and was located with critical, life-threatening injuries.

He was transferred to an ambulance and transported to Javon Bea Hospital—Riverside in Rockford.

Two occupants of a pickup truck, an adult female and a child, also sustained injuries and were transported to Javon Bea Hospital—Riverside with moderate injuries.
Route 14 remained closed in both directions for several hours while the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Crash Investigations Unit processed the scene and conducted the investigation.
All inquiries regarding the cause, fault, or related factors should be directed to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.
