From the Cary Fire Protection District:

Construction Worker Airlifted After Injury

On November 6, 2024, at 8:15 a.m., the Cary Fire Protection District responded to a report of a traumatic injury in the 300 block of Haber Lane in Cary.

While responding, crews were informed that a 300 to 400-pound steel beam had fallen on a construction worker at the site.

Paramedics arrived within minutes and were directed to the adult male patient, from whom the beam had already been removed.

Given the potential severity of his injuries, a medical helicopter was requested.

The helicopter landed at the helipad at Mercyhealth Hospital in Crystal Lake, where the patient was then airlifted to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville for further evaluation and treatment.

The Cary Fire Protection District has not yet been advised of the cause or authority is investigating the incident.
