Democrats marshaled almost $1,7 million to take out incumbent Republican State Rep. .Marty McLaughlin, who had $235,000 to spend.

The challenger was Maria Peterson, who almost knocked out State Senator Dan McConchie two years ago.

McLaughlin is ahead 924 votes before the counting of absentee ballots
