Organizers of the Friday 1:30 food distribution in McHenry at The Chapel on Route 31 in McHenry were pleasantly surprised to have the assistance of nineteen teens from New Creation Church in Hendersonville, Tennessee.

“We started by serving adults with learning disabilities at Dreams with Wings in Louisville, Kentucky,” John Radzimanowski, Children & Youth Director wrote.

“We served at Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana in Indianapolis, Indianopolis, Pacific Garden Mission in Chicago on Wednesday. and we worked at Casa de Oracion in Round Lake.’

An itinerant mission trip.

I had the opportunity to show a boy and a girl how we operated and follow them around filling six or sever orders.

The food is available to anyone who drives up, no questions asked.

Organized by First Church in Crystal Lake, the location has bounced from that church’s fellowship hall to its parking lot to the Nunda Township Hall to a Algonquin Township Road District building to land in a permanent home at The Chapel in McHenry.

The teens did a marvelous job as we filled 104 orders before they left to return home.

“We feel incredibly blessed to be able to come and serve with you all yesterday!” Radzimanowski concluded.

One hundred twenty orders were filled, the latest at 4:30.

Photos are from the time spent unloading pallets of food from the Northern Illinois Food Bank.

No distribution will be made next Friday, July 4th.
