From Kirk Donald:

Why I’m running for Vice Chairman of the McHenry County GOP again in 2026

I’ll bet many of you felt as if you were in for a break after Donald Trump’s convincing victory in November.

I know I was, but it’s not to be.

The Left continues to manufacture their non truths and bring our society to the brink of civil unrest.

JB Pritzker has turned Illinois into the North Korea of the Midwest with some of highest combined taxes in the Country.

He has chased big business out along with a entire army of ex-Illinois residents, just over 56,000 residents last year alone.

We have become “Pottersville” with our gaming parlors, dispensaries, pornography for grade school children, and some of the most liberal abortion laws in the nation. I

llinois is on life support, Pritzker and his minions have to go.

So who am I, and why would I want to interject myself into this mess?

It’s because I know there’s people who don’t want to leave the Land of Lincoln, birthplace of Ronald Reagan, and recruiting grounds for Ulysses S. Grant.

This is our home, there is no reason to turn McHenry County over to people who could care less about its natural beauty and American exceptionalism, they’ll just look for whatever they can get out of it.

This is the end game of the Left, to make you and I economic slaves.

Times have changed, when the Left talks about “special interests”, they’re not talking about backroom business deals, they’re talking about your 2nd Amendment rights and your personal property.

They believe in controlling your behavior and the redistribution of wealth.

I have been the Vice Chairman of the McHenry County Republican Party for the last year, and I’m asking the support of all Republican McHenry County Precinct Persons with a weighted vote, to support my candidacy in 2026.

I’m not running on a slate of candidates within the Party because our By Laws prohibit it, and I believe we have to get back to following our By Laws.

When I was elected, I promised to be completely “boots on the ground”, and I have been.

Not to underscore the incredible patriots and candidates I’ve worked with in the past few years (I was the Chairman of the McHenry Township GOP for two years), here are some of the things I’ve accomplished:

  • I attended both the Illinois Republican State Convention and the RNC in Milwaukee, I co managed all nine County Republican parade schedules, recruited folks to walk with us, and I walked all of them as well.
  • I co managed the McHenry County Fair Booth and juggled a full schedule at our Republican booth and my full time job.
  • I passed out Voters’ Guides to hundreds of people at the incredible Trump Rally in Woodstock.
  • I have had at least a dozen Letters to the Editor published in the Northwest Herald written in support of County Republican candidates,
  • I was quoted three times in the Herald last year, and
  • I challenged the Herald not to use questions for candidate interviews composed by the League of Women Voters which resulted in a terse little email from the local president of the League.
  • I’m on the McHenry County Historical Preservation Committee,
  • I attend County Board Meetings just to keep up,
  • I worked with the County to implement one on one communication for volunteer committee members to fill out their Statement of Economic Interest on time, in order to avoid hefty State fines.
  • I’ve given Public Comment at County Board Meetings, most notably against the use of any DEI policy in the 2050 Plan for County development, and for the Mental Health Sales Tax Referendum, which resulted in a tax reduction from the County on your Property Tax bill.
  • I canvass my precinct regularly,
  • I’ve recruited Election Judges and PCs,
  • I was a poll watcher in the General Election, trekking out to Harvard to observe voters there, and although there were many new immigrant citizens voting, that precinct went to Trump, which was what he had predicted.
  • I helped block “The McHenry Citizens for Choice” from taking a “photo shoot” in front of our local pregnancy center with a group of devoted Pro Life men,
  • I attended as many Republican functions as time would allow, and
  • hosted two Meet and Greets myself.

So where do we go from here?

We get back to the basics of training our PCs and teaching how to canvass, we recruit voters to be Election Judges and Poll Watchers, we register people to vote, and to apply for Vote-By-Mail ballots so the ballots are cast in the intended voter’s name, not someone else’s.

We get the Low Propensity Voters (those Republicans who haven’t voted in the last couple of cycles) out to vote through forming a connection with them.

We recruit PCs to help us keep McHenry County Red!

As I have in the past, I will (if elected) continue to support the individual efforts of members of our Party and its candidates, and McHenry County with the passion it deserves.

God Bless us!

Kirk Donald  Vice Chairman McHenry County GOP
