12 YEARS IN PRISON FOR POPLAR GROVE MAN CONVICTED IN $100,000+ MARENGO BURGLARY
McHenry County State’s Attorney Randi L. Freese announces that Sean A. Fitzpatrick, 50, of Poplar Grove, Illinois, was sentenced to 12 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections by the Honorable Judge Tiffany E. Davis following his convictions for
- Residential Burglary,
- Aggravated Possession of Stolen Motor Vehicles, and
- Possession of a Stolen Firearm.
Fitzpatrick had been previously found guilty of the charges in July of 2025, following a three-day jury trial.
Evidence presented at trial established that Fitzpatrick burglarized a residence in Marengo, Illinois, over the span of two days in March 2023 with his co-defendant, Scott Henrie.
Fitzpatrick and Henrie stole more than $100,000 worth of property from the homeowners, including
- flat-screen televisions,
- clothing,
- jewelry,
- household appliances, and
- firearms.
During the burglary, Fitzpatrick and Henrie also stole the homeowner’s truck and trailer, which they loaded with
- a John Deere Gator,
- snowplow, and
- numerous other items taken from the property.
The pair also stole the homeowner’s 2022 Lexus sedan.
The stolen property was ultimately transported to Fitzpatrick’s residence, where it was recovered by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.
State’s Attorney Randi L. Freese commends Detective Quick and the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office for their thorough investigation and efforts to recover the victims’ stolen property.
She also recognizes Victim Witness Coordinator Polo Fabian for his assistance to the victims throughout the case and his work coordinating witnesses for trial.
