Sheriff’s Office Investigates Serious Injury Traffic Crash

A 63-year-old Johnsburg man died following a single-vehicle motorcycle crash in the 800 block of Cherry Valley Road in Nunda Township, Bull Valley.

On Friday, August 7, 2026, at approximately 10:00 p.m., members of the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and McHenry Fire Protection District responded to a reported motorcycle crash on Cherry Valley Road south of Bull Valley Road.

A preliminary investigation indicates that a 2019 Honda Fury was traveling northbound on Cherry Valley Road when the motorcycle failed to negotiate a curve, exited the roadway to the east, and struck a large rock.

The male driver, who was the sole occupant of the motorcycle, was ejected and came to rest in a wooded area.

The driver was transported by ambulance to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in McHenry, where he was pronounced deceased.

A helmet was not located at the scene. Speed and alcohol are believed to be contributing factors in the crash.

The investigation remains ongoing and is being conducted by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Traffic Crash Investigation Unit and the McHenry County Coroner’s Office.
