From the Village of Lake in the Hills:

Rededication of Veterans Memorial set for Memorial Day

LAKE IN THE HILLS — The newly rebuilt Veterans Memorial next to Village Hall will be formally rededicated this Memorial Day.

A public ceremony is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Monday, May 25, at the memorial at 600 Harvest Gate.

The ceremony will salute all military veterans including American Legion Post 1231 as the memorial is rededicated in their honor.

All residents are invited to attend.

Parking will be available at Village Hall.

The Veterans Memorial, which debuted in 2015, was relocated along Village Hall Drive to make way for the construction of the new police headquarters, which opened earlier this year.

The memorial is now at the corner of Harvest Gate and Village Hall Drive, increasing its visibility.

The memorial is open every day and offers a quiet place to reflect and remember our fallen service members.

The plaza is part of a new walking path that connects Village Hall and the police station.

The memorial was reconstructed in the same design as the original.

It features a curved wall with six granite slabs and corresponding flags representing each branch of the military.

There are also four benches and commemorative bricks dedicated to those who served in the Armed Forces in peace and war.

The Village is bringing back its commemorative brick program and offering residents an opportunity to purchase a brick to be engraved in honor of a loved one. Please visit www.lith.org/memorial for details.
