From the Fox River Grove Board agenda:

Ordinance 2026-01, Setting Public Hearing for Downtown Tax Increment Financing District #3

The Board will consider the approval of an ordinance setting the date and time for a public hearing on the proposed establishment of a new tax increment financing (TIF) district for the ‘Block B’ parcels in the Village’s downtown area (the downtown parcels between Illinois Street & Lincoln Avenue that extend from Northwest Highway to Opatrny Drive not including the Municipal Center).

The new TIF district is being created to support the mixed-use redevelopment of ‘Block B’, to include 8,000 square feet of commercial space and tenant amenities on the ground floor with approximately 95 apartments, as well as parking to accommodate these uses

I consider voting against the Tax Increment Financing District bills among my best votes.

TIFs are a slush fund for municipal governments, taking tax money from local tax districts and giving it to developers.
