Jessica Breugelmans Launches Campaign for State Senate in Illinois’ 33rd District

Mom on a Mission Running to Stop Tax Hikes and Take Back Our Schools

Geneva, IL — Jessica Breugelmans (R-Geneva), a philanthropist, former teacher, and
unapologetic voice for parents and taxpayers, has officially launched her campaign for Illinois
State Senate in the 33rd District.

A mom, small businesswoman, and fierce advocate for working families, Breugelmans is running to bring common sense and accountability back to Springfield.

“I’m running because Illinois families are getting crushed,” said Breugelmans.

“While they stretch every dollar to afford groceries, electric bills, and school supplies, politicians in
Springfield keep demanding more—more taxes, more spending, and bigger government.

“And they expect working families to foot the bill. I’m running to put a stop to it.”

“This year alone, a coalition of progressive groups backed by Governor Pritzker’s allies pushed more than $6 billion in new taxes.

“Among them were a $1.50 delivery tax on everyday essentials like groceries and school supplies, and a new service tax that would hit families for things like haircuts, childcare, and car repairs.

“These are basic needs that families are already struggling to afford.

“These aren’t policies for working families,” Breugelmans said.

“They’re bailouts for Brandon Johnson, the Chicago Teacher’s Union and blank checks for big government.

“I’ll fight every single one.”

Breugelmans is equally focused on education.

With a master’s degree in teaching, years of classroom and consulting experience, and time spent homeschooling her own son, she knows what’s at stake when schools shut parents out.

“I’ve been on the front lines as a teacher, as a parent, and as a watchdog,” she said.

“I’ve seen how top-down decisions and red tape have pushed parents out and left families in the dark.

“I will demand accountability, restore transparency, and make sure parents have a real voice in their children’s education.”

She’s also drawing a hard line on protecting fairness in girls’ sports, calling it a non-negotiable
issue for her campaign.

“Sports taught me to be confident, resilient, and determined,” said Breugelmans, a former competitive gymnast and coach.

“Girls deserve to compete on a level playing field.

‘That is why I support keeping girls’ sports for biological females.

“This is not political. It is about protecting opportunity.”

Breugelmans previously worked as the academic coordinator for the Chicago Steel hockey team and remains active in local charitable and educational causes.

“I am not part of the political class,” she said.

“I am a mom who has had enough of watching Springfield sell out our communities.

“Families are stretched thin.

“Small businesses are barely hanging on.

“And the same people who caused the mess just keep making it worse.

“It is time we had a fighter in Springfield who actually lives in the real world.

“That is exactly who I am.”
