I attended tonight’s MPOA delegates meeting.

Here’s a synopsis:

Write-in candidate Bill Rieke of Shore Hills was voted in to fill the vacant first vice president seat. He won against candidate John Kunzer.

Secretary Cindy Clayton of Highland Shores was voted in to fill the vacant secretary seat. She ran unopposed.

The proposed constitution changes were not approved.

The proposed bylaw changes were not approved.

The increase in our dues from $44 per lot to $53 per lot failed.

Many delegates expressed their objections over the vague nature of the budget.

A dues increase from $44 per lot to $47 per lot was finally approved after much discussion and delegates voted to remove the $40,000 bathymetric study from the budget.

The $3 increase in our dues will cover the MPOA’s basic operating costs.

The dues increase will begin in January.

The MPOA’s attorney gave information on what it means to vote no or to not vote at all on the strategic restricted plan.

A “no” vote would allow the MPOA to amend the current strategic restricted plan proposal and bring it up for a vote again.

However, if the plan was not voted on at all it would put an end to the current proposal.

No one made a motion to adopt the 50 year $90 million restricted strategic fund, so that version of the strategic fund is now gone.

The MPOA can bring any of these issues up again (constitution, bylaws, strategic restricted fund) by calling a special convention.

The current bylaws state that they only have to give us 10 days notice.
