From the Huntley Fire Proteciton District:
Firefighters Rescue Worker Stranded Near Water Tower
On Thursday, October 8, 2026, at 8:22 a.m., the Huntley Fire Protection District responded to the 10700 block of Kreutzer Road for a reported worker stranded approximately 80 to 100 feet in the air after the aerial lift he was operating began smoking and became inoperable.
Firefighters arrived at a Village of Huntley well house and water tower and confirmed the lift was smoking, with no visible fire.

An adult male was located in the elevated boom near the base of the water tower and was unable to lower the lift to the ground.
Crews positioned the district’s tower ladder truck and extended the aerial platform to reach the worker.

Firefighters safely transferred the man into the tower ladder platform and brought him to the ground.

He was reportedly a contract worker performing cleaning work on the Village water tower.
No injuries were reported.
“This was an unusual situation where the worker was left with no safe way to get himself back to the ground,” Battalion Chief Mike Pierce said.
“Our crews were able to position the tower ladder, reach him and bring him down safely.
“It was a good outcome for everyone involved.”
