McHENRY POLICE ARREST SUBJECT ON WEAPONS CHARGES
John Birk, Chief of Police of the McHenry Police Department, announced today the arrest of a male subject in connection with a criminal investigation into that subject unlawfully possessing weapons.
On Tuesday, September 29th, 2026, JACOB M. PIERCE, (DOB: 03/27/1985) age 41, of 4316 W. Clearview Dr., McHenry, Illinois, was taken into custody near his residence.
There were no reported injuries during this incident.
During the weekend of September 26th, 2026 and September 27th, 2026, officers of the McHenry Police epartment responded to calls for service related to Pierce.
One was a domestic dispute and the other was a welfare check.
During these calls for service, officers developed information that Pierce, a convicted felon, was most likely in possession of a firearm.
An investigation was initiated and a search warrant was obtained for Pierce’s residence.
Pierce also allegedly made statements of harming any law enforcement officer that came to his residence.
Due to the circumstances, the McHenry Police Department requested assistance from the Emergency Services Team of the Northern Illinois Police Alarm System (commonly referred to as NIPAS) in the execution of the search warrant.
NIPAS is a joint venture of suburban municipal police agencies to provide mutual aid.
The McHenry Police Department has been a long-time member of NIPAS.
During the search of Pierce’s residence, officers located and took custody of a handgun, a rifle, and ammunition.
Pierce was located in his vehicle near the scene and taken into custody without incident.
PIERCE was charged with
- 3 Counts of UNLAWFUL USE OR POSSESSION OF WEAPONS OR FIREARMS BY CONVICTED
FELONS – Class 3 Felonies
Pierce was transported to the McHenry County Jail pending court proceedings.
This investigation is ongoing, therefore additional charges are possible.
The McHenry Police Department wants to thank the community for their cooperation during this incident.
