Possession and Dissemination of Sex Abuse Materials Investigation

In April 2026, the Cary Police Department’s Investigations Section received information through their partnership with the National Center for Missing and Expolited Children’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force of data believed to contain child sex abuse material being possessed at a residence in Cary.

The Investigations Section conducted an investigation into the information, and ultimately identified a suspect and obtained a search warrant for the residence in 100 block of Bright Oaks Circle in Cary.

On September 1, 2026, the Cary Police Department, with assistance from the Illinois Attorney General’s Office and the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office, executed a search warrant at the residence.

Multiple devices were recovered and examined by digital forensic examiners from the Illinois Attorney General’s Office.

The resident and target of the investigation, 36 year-old Matthew L. Page, was taken into custody and charged as follows:

• 8 Counts – Possession of Child Sex Abuse Material (Class 2 Felony)
• 2 Counts – Dissemination of Child Sex Abuse Material (Class X Felony)

Charges are not findings of guilt by a court, and all arrestees should be assumed innocent until proven guilty.
