The Valley Hi Administrator also explained that, following a resident fall in January that resulted in a G-level deficiency, the state imposed a $25,000 fine; due to the low likelihood of success at a hearing and additional legal costs, the facility opted to pay promptly, taking a 35% reduction and remitting $16,250, which had been anticipated in a newly created “fines and fees” budget line.
