‘Speeding Catches Up With You’: McHenry County Sheriff’s Office releases speed enforcement numbers
Woodstock, IL – McHenry County Sheriff’s Office conducted a focused traffic safety campaign July 7 – Aug. 1, 2026, to remind motorists that “Speeding Catches Up With You” and encourage safer driving habits.
The campaign was part of a statewide effort involving multiple law enforcement agencies, the Illinois Department of Transportation and the Illinois State Police, aiming to reduce highway fatalities and injuries associated with speeding.
During this enforcement period, McHenry County Sheriff’s Office issued:
130 speeding citations
1 Transportation of Open alcohol by Driver citation
2 electronic communication device citations
11 no insurance citations
4 suspended/revoked/no valid licenses citations
22 citations for other various violations
his campaign aligns with IDOT’s broader “It’s Not a Game” initiative, emphasizing that dangerous driving behaviors have serious consequences.
This speed enforcement effort was funded by federal highway safety dollars administered by IDOT.
